Prime Minister Mark Carney Unveils Canada’s New Ministry with Bold Economic and Security Agenda

In a landmark announcement today, Prime Minister Mark Carney unveiled the full lineup of Canada’s new federal Cabinet, setting the tone for a government poised to redefine the country’s economic future and national security framework. This new Ministry follows a decisive electoral mandate from Canadians who called for urgent action on economic resilience, affordability, and public safety.

“Our new Ministry is built to deliver the change Canadians want and deserve,” said Prime Minister Carney. “Everyone is expected and empowered to show leadership – to bring new ideas, a clear focus, and decisive action to their work.”

The Carney government is positioning itself to drive transformational investments, support high-wage job creation, and foster collaboration with provinces, territories, and Indigenous Peoples. Shafqat Ali becomes President of the Treasury Board, responsible for overseeing government spending and accountability. Anita Anand returns to Cabinet as Minister of Foreign Affairs, strengthening Canada’s global diplomatic presence. François-Philippe Champagne takes on the powerful role of Minister of Finance and National Revenue. Mélanie Joly becomes Minister of Industry, with oversight of Canada’s economic development in Quebec. Evan Solomon is named Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, highlighting a renewed focus on emerging technologies.

New ministries have been created to address specific 21st-century challenges, including the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation, and the Ministry of Emergency Management and Community Resilience, led by Eleanor Olszewski.
